About commZoom

To Zoomm it May Concern… Our Story

commZoom® is a San Antonio based wireline Internet Service Provider, which also provides fully digital cable TV and telephone service based in San Antonio, Texas with business operations in 15 south Texas markets all within 100 miles of San Antonio.  The company formally launched in October of 2014 when it acquired ten market systems from Reach Broadband including Hondo, Castroville, Three Rivers, Devine, Lytle, Natalia, Pleasanton, Kenedy, Karnes City and Goliad.  At the same time, commZoom acquired the cable TV system in Bandera from Reveille Broadband.  The company also owns systems in Comfort and La Vernia, which it held since mid-2013 and operated under the name Coyote Cable, LLC. In 2017, commZoom acquired cable infrastructure in Jourdanton and Poteet, Texas and has upgraded those markets.

From its central headquarters in San Antonio, commZoom has worked on a steady path of system upgrades in 13 of the markets in its network to deliver new technology and improved service.  The upgraded commZoom markets receive Internet delivery via a high speed Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) network infrastructure to local neighborhoods and business districts with fiber expansion plans in many of the existing markets into areas not previously served.  These improvements bring the highest Internet speeds available in these service areas.  On the video side, commZoom upgrades mean conversion from analog cable to a fully digital cable TV service with High Definition and a comprehensive selection of over 240 channels, networks, music, and movie selections. Television upgrades mean a much-improved user experience. Telephone service includes with 2,000 minutes of local and long distance calls to all 50 states and Canada per line.

In its short history, commZoom has concentrated on delivering “Main Street, Merchant Quality Service” to its customers with an intense customer focus. In an industry not known for its customer service achievements, (indeed the telecommunications industry is known for exactly the opposite), commZoom stands out with a high-touch, accessible and responsive approach to customer needs. Every member of our team strives to demonstrate this culture every day. commZoom’s NPS® (Net Promoter Score*) results consistently stay in the high 60’s vs. an industry average of 18. [*Net Promoter Score is a globally accepted statistical tool which measures the willingness of customers to recommend a company’s products or services to others.]

commZoom is a Texas-owned and Texas operated company funded by private investors.  Its goal is to provide a transformational service, which accelerates the digital lives of residents and businesses in the communities it serves, to provide a superb user experience, be a vital part of the communities we serve and to create productive alliances that move communities forward.  As a south Texas employer our goal is to provide an environment for our employees to do the best work of their careers.

Jay Gorman

Founder and Chief Technology Officer

Jay GormanJay Gorman is an electrical engineer with more than 21 years of experience in the Internet and communications industries. Jay founded his first venture in 1994 – South Texas Internet Connection (STIC.net) – which was one of the first dial-up internet service providers in San Antonio.  He sold STIC.net in 2000.  Jay also founded Envirosoph Technologies, which provides life-saving flood warning and monitoring systems for low-water crossings on Texas roadways and sells its proprietary equipment and wireless monitoring services to the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) and to county and municipal government organizations.  Sendero Networks, another of Jay’s companies, provides network engineering and IT service solutions for small business owners in the San Antonio area.   Having worked in the wireless telecommunications industry with a regional Motorola equipment dealer, Jay gained first-hand working knowledge of the limitations of fixed wireless broadband Internet access.  That experience inspired Jay to explore fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) communications systems and formulate the original business model for Coyote Cable, a small cable company with operations in Comfort and La Vernia, Texas. Coyote Cable evolved into what is today commZoom, LLC with operations in 13 small south Texas communties. Jay earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Technologies from Le Tourneau University in Longview, Texas and is a member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE). Jay is a native of San Antonio. He and his wife Dawn have three children.
